About Sara…

hi friends!!! :)

So happy you’re here! A little about me and how I got here… going to try and make a long story short 🤣

For so many years I struggled with chronic inflammation and could not figure out what was causing it. Turned out to be Lyme (which went undiagnosed for about 5 years) along with a few of the co-infections and all of the fun that comes with them. Even after the diagnosis, nothing was really helping me feel better. My immune system was shot and I had developed so many allergies and food sensitivities… as well as constant fatigue, headaches, cognitive issues, memory loss, anxiety.. the list goes on. When I was 21 someone recommended I try cutting gluten out of my diet. I was hesitant at first but after committing to it for a few months it was a NIGHT AND DAY difference… I felt relief from my symptoms for the time ever!!! Not one doctor ever mentioned anything about food or diet…. and so my journey with food and healing began.

This inspired me to study nutrition at San Diego State. I loved it, but knew that the clinical side of nutrition wasn't my passion. I loved the food!!! I have worked in the restaurant industry from the time I was 16 through college and in the years after.and always thought to myself…. I wish there was a way I could combine these two industries that I love so much. After graduating college I knew health and healing was my North Star but still wasn’t sure what direction to take it. I became a certified health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and a personal trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine and started seeing clients one-on-one. Almost immediately I saw a common trend! When going over the nutrition with my clients so many of them would jokingly say … “can’t you just make my food for me?”

So here we are!!! I combined my love for nutrition and food hit the road running! I remembered when I first began my healing journey trying to find good food without gluten and dairy in it was a challenge.. especially on the go. This is why all of our bowls are vegan (unless you add meat), gluten-free and anti-inflammatory… I hope to help anyone who is dealing with the same troubles I dealt with for so long.. or for anyone who just wants to clean up their diet and incorporate more nutrient dense, whole foods into their lifestyle!

I have so much fun coming up with new menu items and love making healthy food FUN and EXCITING! I especially love making the juice recipes because it' feels like bartending and mixology in a way… and now I serve turmeric shots instead of tequila LOL. I believe in the healing power of food so much along with nature, laughter and human connection. Everything we do at SOULBER is rooted in gratitude, growth and community <3

When I’m not in the kitchen chopping and prepping you can find me wandering the trails in the woods, doing hot yoga, trying new restaurants and laughing as much as I possibly can with my friends. I am forever grateful for what I do and even more grateful for the people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting along the way. Thank you for being along for the ride <3
